What is NaNoWriMo? Well, during the month of November, tens of thousands of insane people begin a 30-day process of sitting at their computer, typing furiously at their keyboards, trying to get 50,000 coherent words strung together into sentences in, hopefully, some semblance of plot. It's called National Novel Writing Month, or NaNoWriMo, for short. At least, that's what the creators call it. Most of the participants, myself included, call it pure insanity for insanity's sake. Or worse things, depending on how late it is in the month and how far behind we are in our word counts.

This journal will chronicle my personal descent into NaNoWriMo madness. Follow the twists and turns of a thin-to-the-point-of-non-existent plot, the brutal murder of what could be compelling characters as they fall victim to my ramblings, and the beauty of words in their rawest forms, free of the taint of a spell checker.

Yes, it will be madness. But in a good way. Or a very, very bad way. Feel free to gawk at the mess or genius that emerges. Either way, it promises to be a good time.
